Hi everyone...and welcome to a RUGBY LEAGUE ENIGMA.
This site has been designed for all coaches or perspective coaches to be able to browse around and seek the relevant information
needed to be confident in coaching players of all ages, correct technique or execution in our greatest game of all RUGBY LEAGUE.
When I first started coaching, although I'd played 19 years of senior footy, I didn't really know if what I "knew" was what I should be coaching. Even with the information super highway we know as the world wide web, I found it difficult to obtain relevant information on how I should be coaching kids to perform the simplest of tasks, holding a football, passing a football, kicking a football.
My name is Dick Walsh and this site will endeavour to tunnel my thoughts and share some experiences and insights into coaches other than of a super elite nature.
With the 2008 season fastly approaching I have found myself with my fingers in more than a few pies. I am currently employed by Souths Leagues Club in Mackay, Queensland as there Football Manager. This position also under takes the position of Senior Club Coaching Director, and the fact that I have two boys, Brayden U/11 and Lachlan U/9 playing 'Mod' league is the reason I accepted the position of Coaching Director for Souths Juniors, add to that coaching the Souths U/18 grade at club level and the Mackay St Pats 1st XIII at high school level, Manager/Selector for the 2008 NQ U/18 Marlins, Strapper/Trainer for a Torres Strait Is team which is touring Qld in late Feb/March '08, not to mention the work done with the Queensland Rugby League, Australian Rugby League and our local District Rugby League. Any how, plates full, stiff sh*t, we'll do whatever it takes.
